OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the President of the Executive Council dated January 13, 2010, and pursuant to Sections 7, 8, 14G, 17A, 25IA and 25J of

Chapter 376 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Public Service Act,

Section 18 of

Chapter 235 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the

Interpretation Act,

Section 2 of

Chapter 377 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Public Service Superannuation Act,

Section 10 of

Chapter 70 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Civil Service Act, and all authority in him vested, is pleased to, effective January 18, 2010: (

a) revoke the designation of Robert C. Fowler as the head of the Public Service; (

b) revoke the appointment of Robert C. Fowler as Deputy Minister of the Office of the Premier, Chief Executive Officer of the Office of Communications Nova Scotia, Secretary to the Executive Council and Clerk of the Executive Council; (

c) revoke the appointment of Dennis Cochrane as Deputy Minister of Education; (

d) revoke the appointment of Greg Keefe as Deputy Minister of Treasury and Policy Board and Chief Information Officer for the Province of Nova Scotia; (

e) revoke the appointment of Rick Williams as Chief Executive Officer of the Office of Policy and Priorities; (

f) revoke the appointment of Rosalind Penfound as Public Service Commissioner, Chief Executive Officer of the Office of Immigration and Deputy Minister of Seniors; (

g) revoke the designation of Rosalind Penfound as deputy head within the meaning of the Civil Service Act for the Advisory Council on the Status of Women; (

h) revoke the appointment of Kelliann Dean as Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Heritage; (

i) designate Greg Keefe as head of the Public Service; (

j) appoint Greg Keefe as Secretary to the Executive Council, Clerk of the Executive Council, Deputy Minister of the Office of the Premier, Deputy Minister of the Treasury Board Office, Chief Executive Officer of the Chief Information Office and Chief Executive Officer of the Office of Communications Nova Scotia; (

k) appoint Rick Williams as Deputy Minister of the Office of Policy and Priorities; (

l) appoint Rosalind Penfound as Deputy Minister of Education; (

m) appoint Kelliann Dean as Public Service Commissioner and Deputy Minister of Seniors; (

n) appoint Kelliann Dean as deputy head within the meaning of the Civil Service Act for the Advisory Council on the Status of Women; (

o) appoint Margaret MacDonald as Chief Executive Officer of the Office of Immigration; (

p) appoint Laura Lee Langley as Acting Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Heritage; (

q) appoint Tracey Taweel as Acting Assistant Chief Executive Officer of the Office of Communications Nova Scotia who may be referred to as Acting Assistant Deputy Minister of Communications Nova Scotia; (

r) appoint Robert C. Fowler as Deputy Minister without portfolio until January 31, 2010; (

s) designate Greg Keefe, Rick Williams, Rosalind Penfound, Kelliann Dean, Margaret MacDonald, Laura Lee Langley and Robert C. Fowler as deputy heads within the meaning of the Civil Service Act; (

t) fix and determine the salaries of Rick Williams, Rosalind Penfound, Kelliann Dean, Margaret MacDonald, Laura Lee Langley and Robert C. Fowler to be at such rate as may be determined by the Deputy Minister of the Office of the Premier; (

u) fix and determine the salary of Greg Keefe to be at such rate as may be determined by Treasury Board; (

v) direct that Greg Keefe, Rick Williams, Rosalind Penfound, Kelliann Dean, Margaret MacDonald, Laura Lee Langley and Robert C. Fowler shall receive all customary benefits associated with the position of deputy head including participation in the Province of Nova Scotia Long Term Disability Plan; and (

w) designate Greg Keefe, Rosalind Penfound, Kelliann Dean, Margaret MacDonald, Laura Lee Langley and Robert C. Fowler to be and to have been an employee for the purposes of the Public Service Superannuation Act.
