Contract: Northwest regional shower building replacement - Hilliard's Bay

Provincial Park

Contractor: PCL Construction Management

Reason for Increase: Due to supply chain issues, the increase was required to cover

the additional costs and time needed for materials. The contract is for the

redevelopment of the shower building at Hilliard's Bay Provincial Park.

Contract Amount: $2,560,000

% Increase: 18%

Amount of Increase: $454,135

Contract: Cabin facility upgrade, William Watson Lodge - Peter Lougheed

Provincial Park

Contractor: Scott Builders Inc.

Reason for Increase: Due to supply chain issues, the increase was required to cover

the additional costs and time needed for materials to complete the installation of the

heat link panels. This contract is to upgrade the William Watson Lodge cabin facility

at Peter Lougheed Provincial Park.

Contract Amount: $3,975,000

Contract Increases Approved Pursuant to Treasury Board Directive 02/2005

Contract: Calgary - FMC Power Plant Upgrade - Construction Management Services

Contractor: EllisDon Construction Services Inc.

Reason for Increase: Major increase due to Mechanical / Electrical / Controls

Contract: Calgary - Young Offenders Centre - Security Upgrades

Contractor: Everest Construction Management Ltd.

Reason for Increase: This increase is required to correct the locks, by securing door

screws. The status of each door will be identified as to why the door is not showing

the proper status at all times; door position switch, loose hinges, warped door. This

will assist to determine corrective action for each door in the future. Broken electrical

conduit and cable for a monitoring camera in the outdoor rink area will be replaced at

this time.

Contract Amount: $2,745,992.00

Contract: Edmonton - Infrastructure Building - Replace Roofing and Skylight

Systems

Contractor: Chandos Construction Ltd.

Reason for Increase: During the course of construction, and with ongoing Hazardous

Materials testing, material concealed in several inaccessible locations in the existing

roofing were discovered. The areas identified as containing Hazardous Materials are

more extensive than anticipated and are being abated as per the Alberta Asbestos

Abatement Manual as the roof replacement continues. Additional change orders are

anticipated to complete the necessary removal of Hazardous Materials.

Contract Amount: $11,450,000.00

% Increase: 47%

Amount of Increase: $5,372,087.00

Contract: Edmonton - Terrace Building - Third Floor Block 'E' Storage Room and

Carpentry Shop Renovation

Contractor: Rencon Industries Inc.

Reason for Increase: Change orders of up to $286,220.31 are anticipated to complete

the project. This includes the addition of a fire-rated ceiling and firestop joints in the

new fire-rated corridor; new doors and door frames (3 total) will need to be replaced

as the existing cannot be reused; unforeseen costs required to complete the project.

Demolition

Contractor: McColman & Sons Demolition Ltd.

Reason for Increase: Additionally engineered backfill is required to prevent

redundant work for future project.

Contract: High Prairie - Former High Prairie Health Complex - Demolition and

Contractor: RoadBridge Services Ltd.

Reason for Increase: Additional hazmat and other materials were uncovered during

demolition that could not reasonably be foreseen in early investigation and

quantification activities.

Contract: Leduc - Agrivalue Processing Business Incubator - Facility Expansion

Contractor: Fillmore Construction Management Inc.

Reason for Increase: Request for Proposal excluded a portion of the Scope of Work

due to anticipated budgetary constraints, and stated that a portion of the removed

scope may be re-instated subject to favourable tender pricing upon award. Favourable

tenders were received for the Prime Contractor Services, and the contract was

awarded to Fillmore Construction Management Inc. at a value below allocated

construction budget. This contract increase is partially the result of the partial

reinstatement of the originally-removed Scope of Work, which in turn represents

24.1% of the 30.3% overall increase. The remaining 6.2% represents previously

unforeseen conditions and coordination issues.
