OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Acting Minister of Justice dated February 7, 2001, and pursuant to
Section 54 of
Chapter 30 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Barristers and Solicitors Act, is pleased to: (
a) appoint John S. McFarlane, Q.C., of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, to be Chair of the Board of Governors of the Law Foundation of Nova Scotia for a term of office of one year commencing March 1, 2001; and (
b) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against John S. McFarlane, Q.C. and indemnify him from personal liability, provided that the Province is satisfied the claim arises out of his activities in relation to his appointment and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends him, the Province will be in control of the case.
