OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Communities, Culture and Heritage dated October 24, 2012, and pursuant to Sections 5 and 9 of

Chapter 22 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Act, is pleased to: (

a) appoint Irene d'Entremont of Yarmouth, Yarmouth County; Barbara MacKinnon of Truro, Colchester County; and Bonnie Kirby of Halifax Regional Municipality (Halifax) as members of the Board of Governors of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia each for a three year term commencing December 10, 2012; (

b) appoint Bonnie Baker of Annapolis Royal, Annapolis County as a member of the Board of Governors of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia for a one year term commencing December 10, 2012; (

c) approve the appointments by the Board of Governors of Elizabeth Ryan of Halifax Regional Municipality (Halifax), John Oliver of Wallace, Cumberland County and Rob G.C. Sobey of Stellarton, Pictou County as Honorary Governors for life commencing December 10, 2012; and (

d) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against the above appointees to the Board of Governors of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and indemnify them from personal liability in connection with any such claims, provided, however, that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of their activities in relation to their appointment and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends them, the Province will be in control of the case.
