OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister responsible for the Human Rights Act dated October 2, 2006, and pursuant to

Section 22 of

Chapter 214 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Human Rights Act, is pleased to: (

a) appoint the following persons as commissioners of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission, each for a term of office of three years commencing November 2, 2006: Robert Hannigan of Inverness, Inverness County, K. Martha MacDonald of Stellarton, Pictou County, Frank D. Likely of Springhill, Cumberland County; (

b) determine that each of Robert Hannigan, K. Martha MacDonald and Frank D. Likely be paid remuneration at the rate of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) for each half day spent at duly called meetings of the Commission, plus reasonable expenses incurred; and (

c) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against Robert Hannigan, K. Martha MacDonald and Frank D. Likely and indemnify them from personal liability, provided that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of their activities in relation to their appointment and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends them, the Province will be in control of the case.
