WHEREAS the Canadian Junior College was incorporated by

chapter 35 of the Statutes of Alberta, 1940; and

WHEREAS that Act was amended by

chapter 82 of the Statutes of Alberta, 1947, which, inter alia, changed the name of the college to "Canadian Union College",

chapter 104 of the Statutes of Alberta, 1951,

chapter 119 of the Statutes of Alberta, 1960,

chapter 124 of the Statutes of Alberta, 1972,

chapter 74 of the Statutes of Alberta, 1979,

chapter 24 of the Statutes of Alberta, 1989, and

chapter 30 of the Statutes of Alberta, 1993; and

WHEREAS a petition has been presented praying that the Act be further amended as hereinafter set forth, and it is expedient to grant the prayer of the petition; THEREFORE HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, enacts as follows: A m ends S A 1940 c35 1 The C anadian U nion C ollege A ct is amended by this Act. 1

Explanatory Notes 1 Amends

chapter 35 of the Statutes of Alberta, 1940. 1 Explanatory Notes

A m ends title 2 The title of the Act is struck out and the following is substituted: CANADIAN UNIVERSITY COLLEGE ACT C hange in nam e 3 The following provisions are amended by striking out "Union" wherever it occurs and substituting "University":

section 4;

section 7;

section 9.1;

section 9.2. Title 4

Section 13.1 is repealed and the following is substituted: 13.1 This Act may be cited as the C anadian U niversity C ollege A ct. 2

2 The title presently reads:

An Act to Incorporate the Canadian Union College 3 Changes the reference from "Canadian Union College" to "Canadian University College". 4

Section 13.1 presently reads: 13. J This Act may be cited as The Canadian Union College Act. 2 Explanatory Notes Title: 1997 (24th, 1st) Bill Pr6, Canadian Union College Amendment Act, 1997
