Oakfield Provincial Park Designation

made under

Section 8 of the

Provincial Parks Act

R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 367

O.I.C. 73-1173 (November 6, 1973), N.S. Reg. 133/73

The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and

Forests dated the 29th day of October, A.D., 1973, pursuant to the provisions of

Section 2 of

Chapter 244 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1967, the Provincial Parks Act , is pleased

to:

(

a) constitute all that area of land including land covered with water, owned by

Her Majesty in right of the Province of Nova Scotia, and situate near Oakfield

in the County of Halifax, Province of Nova Scotia, to be a Provincial Park,

said area of land being included within the boundaries of the lands described in

Schedule “A” attached to the report and recommendation and shown outlined

on the Plan of Survey marked

Schedule “B” also attached to the report and

recommendation;

(

b) declare the name by which the park shall be known as “Oakfield Provincial

Park”.

Oakfield Provincial Park

All that certain lot, piece or parcel of land situate on the southeasterly side of Shubenacadie

Grand Lake near Oakfield, in the County of Halifax as the same is shown on Plan E-5-41

recorded in the Crown Land Records Office, Department of Lands and Forests, Halifax and

being more particularly described as follows:

Beginning at an iron post marked “4746” situated where the boundary line between lands now

owned by the Province of Nova Scotia and lands now or formerly owned by Oakfield Estates

Limited intersects the bank or shore of Sandy Cove on the southeasterly side of Shubenacadie

Grand Lake;

Thence from the point of beginning, so-described, by astronomic bearings N 63° 28' 58" W, a

distance of 568.34' to an iron post marked “4980”;

Thence on a bearing of S 03° 25' 09" W, a distance of 285.86' to an iron post marked “4982”;

Thence on a bearing of N 85° 09' 30" W, a distance of 533.48' to an iron post marked “4983”;

Thence on a bearing of S 21° 59' 33" W, a distance of 492.32' to an iron post marked “4984”;

Thence on a bearing of S 12° 26' 04" W, a distance of 57.61' to an iron post marked “4984A”;

Thence continuing on a bearing of S 12° 26' 04" W, a distance of 172.05' to an iron post

marked “4985”;

Thence on a bearing of S 06° 04' 04" W, a distance of 502.98' to an iron post marked “4986”;

Thence on a bearing of S 00° 51' 12" E, a distance of 409.94' to an iron post marked “4987”;

Thence by a bearing of S 01° 25' 38" E, a distance of 584.65' to an iron post marked “4988”;

Thence on a bearing of S 10° 54' 27" W, a distance of 141.98' to an iron post marked “4989”;

Thence on a bearing of S 18° 10' 34" W, a distance of 456.08' to an iron post marked “4990”;

Thence on a bearing of N 88° 43' 20" W, a distance of 111.43' to an iron post marked “4743”

situated on an old stone wall;

Thence in a westerly direction following along the said old stone wall to an iron post marked

“4742” situated at or near the mean highwater mark of the southeasterly shore of Shubenacadie

Grand Lake, the said iron post “4742” being a calculated bearing of N 88° 42' 59" W and a

calculated distance of 1166.5' from iron post “4743”;

Thence by several courses following along the mean high water mark of the southeasterly

shore of Shubenacadie Grand Lake in a generally northerly, northeasterly and northerly

direction to the tip of Indian Point, so-called;

Thence continuing by several courses following along the mean high water mark of the shore

of Shubenacadie Grand Lake towards Sandy Cove, first herein mentioned, in a generally

southerly, southeasterly and southerly direction to the place of beginning. The said described

area containing 133 acres more or less.
