EXPLANATORY NOTE NOTE EXPLICATIVE This Bill amends The Drivers and Vehicles Act. It permits an organization to apply to the Registrar of Motor Vehicles to make a licence plate available that includes the abbreviation "MMIWG2S", meaning missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit people. The plate must also bear a graphic depicting a red hand or a red dress. Le présent projet de loi modifie la

"MMIWG2S" number plates 60.3(2) Upon receipt of an organization's application that is acceptable to the registrar, the registrar shall make available a specialty number plate that (

a) includes"MMIWG2S" in capital letters; (

b) depicts a red hand or a red dress; and (

Use of funds 60.3(3) After consulting with individuals and organizations that represent the interests of the families of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit people, the minister may direct that all or a portion of the charges collected for the specialty plates described in subsection (2) are to be paid by the administrator to a registered charity that benefits those families.
