OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minster of Justice and Attorney General dated January 7, 1999, pursuant to Sections 3 and 4 of

Chapter 252 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Legal Aid Act, is pleased to: (

a) reappoint the following persons as directors of the Nova Scotia Legal Aid Commission, each for a further term of office of three years commencing January 15, 1999: (i)Glen G. McDougall of Sydney, Cape Breton Regional Municipality; and (ii) Heidi Marshall of Sydney, Cape Breton Regional Municipality; (

b) reappoint the following persons as directors of the Nova Scotia Legal Aid Commission, each for a further term of office of three years commencing December 20, 1998: (

i) David F. Curtis, Q.C., of Truro, Colchester County; (ii) Michael A. Lambert of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality; (iii) M. Louise Campbell of Guysborough, Guysborough County; and (iv) Christopher Manning of Kentville, Kings County; (

c) appoint Glen G. McDougall of Sydney, Cape Breton Regional Municipality, as Chair of the Nova Scotia Legal Aid Commission for a term of three years commencing January 15, 1999; and (

d) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against Glen G. McDougall, Heidi Marshall, David F. Curtis, Q.C., Michael A. Lambert, M. Louise Campbell and Christopher Manning and indemnify them from personal liability, provided that the Province is satisfied the claim arises out of their activities in relation to their appointments and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends them, the Province will be in control of a case.
