OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the President of the Executive Council dated March 5, 2014, and pursuant to Sections 2A, 4, 4B and 4C of

Chapter 376 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Public Service Act , and all other authority in him vested, is pleased to, effective April 1, 2014: (

a) direct that Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations be renamed the Department of Municipal Affairs; (

b) direct that all affairs and matters pertaining to emergency management which have heretofore been assigned by or under any Act of the Legislature to the Department of Justice or the Minister of Justice are assigned to the Department of Municipal Affairs or the Minister of Municipal Affairs as the case may be; (

c) direct that all affairs and matters pertaining to the Office of the Fire Marshal which have heretofore been assigned by or under any Act of the Legislature to the Department of Labour and Advanced Education or the Minister of Labour and Advanced Education are assigned to the Department of Municipal Affairs or the Minister of Municipal Affairs as the case may be; (

d) create the Office of Service Nova Scotia and prescribe the name of the Office to be Service Nova Scotia; (

e) assign all affairs and matters which have heretofore been assigned by or under any Act of the Legislature to Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations or the Minister of Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations, with the exception of the Municipal Affairs Division, to Service Nova Scotia or the Minister of Service Nova Scotia as the case may be; and (

f) direct that a reference in any Act of the Legislature or in any rule, order, regulation, bylaw, ordinance or proceeding, or in any document whatsoever, to a Department or Office, or to the Minister or Deputy Minister or Associate Deputy Minister of that Department or Office, the name of which has been changed by this Order, whether the reference is by official name or otherwise, shall with respect to any subsequent transaction, matter or thing be held and construed to be a reference to the Department or Office, or to the Minister or Deputy Minister or Associate Deputy Minister of that Department or Office, to which a name has been changed.
