The Member for Lewisporte – Twillin gate (Mr. Bennett) made a Statement to congratulate Deborah Bour den and Wilma Hartman for wi nning the Accommodator of the Year Award at the Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador Annual Conference. The Member for Fogo Island – Cape Freel s (Mr. Bragg) made a Statement to congratulate Noah Hunt who has been selected as honorary Chair of the Gander Gutsy Walk for Crohn’s and Colitis for 2016. The Member for Conception Bay East – Bell Island (Mr.

Brazil) made a Statement to congratulate t he “Trail of the Caribou Project Team” and Retired Major Michael Pretty for ensuring all graves of Newfoundland and Labrador World War I dead are identified and marked. The Member for Placentia West – Bell evue (Mr. Browne) made a Statement to recognize the heroism of James Seaward w ho with no regard for his own life rescued a woman who was in a vehicle submerged in a lake in four feet of water. The Member for Virginia Waters – Pleasantville (Mr. Davis) made a Statement to recognize the designation of Lt.

Col (Padre) Thomas Nangle as a National Historic Person by the Federal Government. The Member for Topsail – Paradise (Mr. Davis) made a Statement to congratulate and thank Sgt. Judy Sparkes on her 35 years of service in the Canadian Forces. The Honourable the Premier (Mr. Ball) made a Statement to congratulate the 2016 Special Olympics Canada Winter Ga mes athletes, coaches, organizers, volunteers and supporters. The Honourable the Minister of Financ e and President of Treasury Board (Ms.

Bennett) made a Statement to inform the H ouse that in Budget 2016-17 Government will not make any changes to the core grant funding it provides to community groups. The Honourable the Minister of Transportation and Works (Mr. Hawkins) made a Statement to provide the House an update regarding early tendering for road work. The Honourable the Minister of Justice and Public Sa fety and Attorney General (Mr.

The Honourable the Minister of Fis heries and Aquaculture (Mr. Crocker) gave notice that he would on tomorrow ask leave to introduce a Bill entitled “An Act To Amend the Professional Fish Harvesters Act” (Bill No. 6). 17 Wednesday, March 9th, 2016 Pursuant to notice and on motion debat e commenced and concluded on the following Resolution standing in the name of the Member for Topsail – Paradise (Mr.

Davis): “BE IT RESOLVED that this Honourable House urges the Government of Canada to recognize the impact of the steep fa ll in oil revenues on our Province and that it consider financial support to our Province in order to prevent deep cuts in services to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Honourable House urges the Government of Canada to modernize Federa l - Provincial Arrangements, including the Equalization Program and the Fiscal Stabilizat ion Program to more fairly and promptly reflect our Province’s needs and to more fairly account for natural resource revenues.” The Speaker put the question on the Re solution and declared the Resolution carried.
