LAND (RESIDENTIAL LEASE) AMENDMENT ACT, 2023

HIS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows:

CLAUSE 1: [Land Act,

section 38.1] adds a new

section that establishes a maximum allowable annual rent increase in respect of residential leases on Crown land.

1 The Land Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 245, is amended by adding the following section:

Maximum annual rent increase

38.1 If a lease issued by the minister under

section 38 is for residential use, then the annual increase of rent charged by the minister may not be greater than an amount calculated in accordance with

section 43 (1) of the Residential Tenancy Act .

Commencement

2 This Act comes into force on the date of Royal Assent.

Explanatory Note
