OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister responsible for the administration of
Part I of the Gaming Control Act dated January 3, 2001, pursuant to Sections 8 and 12 of
Chapter 4 of the Acts of 1995-96, the Gaming Control Act, is pleased to: (
a) revoke the appointments of the following persons as members of the Board of Directors of the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation effective February 15, 2001, which appointments were made by Order in Council 2000-47 dated February 9, 2000: William D. Hogg, CA; and H. Ramsay Duff; (
b) appoint the following persons as members of the Board of Directors of the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation, each to hold office for a term of two years commencing February 15, 2001: John G. Khattar of Sydney, Cape Breton Regional Municipality, Stephen K. Mont of Dartmouth, Halifax Regional Municipality, each to be bound by the principles and purposes of both the Corporate Code of Conduct for Civil Servants and
Chapter 4 of the Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1991, as amended, the Members and Public Employees' Disclosure Act; (
c) appoint the following person as a member of the Board of Directors of the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation to hold office for a term of three years commencing February 15, 2001: Peter Gerard Fardy of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality,to be bound by the principles and purposes of both the Corporate Code of Conduct for Civil Servants and
Chapter 4 of the Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1991, as amended, the Members and Public Employees' Disclosure Act; and (
d) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against John G. Khattar, Stephen K. Mont and Peter Gerard Fardy and indemnify them from personal liability, provided that the Province is satisfied the claim arises out of their activities in relation to their appointments and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends them, the Province will be in control of the case.
