An Act to Amend the Taxpayer Protection Act Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as fol- lows: 1

Section of the Taxpayer Protection Act,

chapter T-0.5 of the Acts of New Brunswick, 2003, is amended by adding the following definition in alphabetical order: “public consultation” means a two-way exchange of in- formation between the government and the public before decisions are made and is an open and accountable pro- cess allowing individuals and groups to participate in the decision-making process of the government. (consultation publique) 2 The Act is amended by adding after

section the fol- lowing: Public consultation 5.1 For the purposes of this Act, a public consultation shall not constitute consent to implement a new tax. 3 This Act comes into force on a day to be fixed by proclamation. PROJET DE LOI Loi modifiant la

chapitre T-0.5 des Lois du Nouveau-Brunswick de 2003, est modifié par l’adjonction de la définition sui- vante selon l’ordre alphabétique : « consultation publique » s’entend d’un échange bila- téral d’information entre le gouvernement et le public avant que des décisions soient prises, s’agissant d’un pro- cessus ouvert et responsable permettant à des particuliers et à des groupes de participer dans le processus décision- nel du gouvernement. (public consultation) 2 La Loi est modifiée par l’adjonction après l’article de ce qui suit : Consultation publique 5.1 Pour l’application de la présente loi, une consulta- tion publique ne vaut pas consentement à la mise en oeuvre d’une nouvelle taxe. 3 La présente loi entre en vigueur à la date fixée par proclamation.
