OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Justice dated June 21, 2006, pursuant to
Section 13 of
Chapter 31 of the Acts of 2004, the Police Act, and clause 18(1)(
b) of
Chapter 235 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the
Interpretation Act, is pleased to: (
a) appoint Marion Ferguson of Upper Tantallon, Halifax Regional Municipality, as a member and designate her as Chair of the Nova Scotia Police Review Board for a term of three years commencing July 24, 2006; (
b) appoint Thomas Haney of Chester, Lunenburg County, as a member and designate him as Vice-chair of the Nova Scotia Police Review Board for a term of three years commencing July 24, 2006; (
c) fix remuneration of a member of the Nova Scotia Police Review Board at $150 per meeting; (
d) fix remuneration of the Chair of the Nova Scotia Police Review Board at $200 per meeting; and (
e) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against Marion Ferguson and Thomas Haney and indemnify them from personal liability provided that the Province is satisfied the claim arises out of their activities in relation to their appointment and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends them, the Province will be in control of the case.
