ANNEXE 3.1 JOURNÉE DE CANARDS ILLIMITÉS CANADA

WHEREAS Ducks Unlimited Canada was founded in Manitoba in 1938 by conservationists and hunters to address the decline in waterfowl populations caused by the loss of habitat; Attendu : que l'organisme Canards Illimités Canada a été fondé au Manitoba en 1938 par des conservationnistes et des chasseurs pour remédier au déclin des populations de sauvagine causé par la perte d'habitat; 1

AND

WHEREAS the first head office of Ducks Unlimited Canada was in Winnipeg and its first wetland restoration project was at Big Grass Marsh near Plumas; AND

WHEREAS Ducks Unlimited Canada has pursued many prominent conservation projects in Manitoba, including the preservation of important waterfowl breeding grounds in the prairie pothole region west of Neepawa; AND

WHEREAS Ducks Unlimited Canada has partnered with landowners to make farms and ranches more sustainable; AND

WHEREAS Ducks Unlimited Canada has partnered with Indigenous groups to incorporate traditional knowledge and practices into wetland and grassland conservation projects; AND

WHEREAS the national headquarters of Ducks Unlimited Canada has been located at Oak Hammock Marsh near Stonewall since 1993; AND

WHEREAS Ducks Unlimited Canada Day gives Manitobans an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the role of Ducks Unlimited Canada in conserving, restoring and managing wetlands and grasslands for the benefit of waterfowl and other wildlife and its connection with Manitoba; que son premier siège social était sis à Winnipeg et que son premier projet de restauration des milieux humides visait le marais Big Grass situé près de Plumas; qu'il a réalisé de nombreux projets de conservation majeurs au Manitoba, notamment la préservation d'importants sites de reproduction de la sauvagine dans la région des fondrières des Prairies située à l'ouest de Neepawa; qu'il a établi des partenariats avec des propriétaires fonciers afin de rendre les fermes et les ranchs plus durables; qu'il a établi des partenariats avec des groupes autochtones afin d'intégrer les connaissances et les pratiques traditionnelles dans les projets de conservation des terres humides et de la prairie; que son siège social national est situé depuis 1993 au marais Oak Hammock, près de Stonewall; que la Journée de Canards Illimités Canada donnera aux Manitobains l'occasion de reconnaître et de souligner le lien qui unit l'organisme au Manitoba et le rôle qu'il joue dans la conservation, la restauration et la gestion des terres humides et de la prairie pour la sauvagine et les autres animaux sauvages, THEREFORE the following is proclaimed throughout Manitoba: il est proclamé ce qui suit dans toute la province : Ducks Unlimited Canada Day 1 In each year, March 17 is to be known as Ducks Unlimited Canada Day.
