Statute: Agriculture Appeal and Review Board Act Meat Inspection Act Crop and Livestock Insurance Act Animal Protection Act Farm Practices Act

OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Agriculture dated February 3, 2026, is pleased, effective on and after March 3, 2026, to: (

a) pursuant to

Section 12 of the

Schedule to

Chapter 16 of the Acts of 2025, the Agriculture Appeal and Review Board Act , make regulations respecting the operations and procedures of the Agriculture Appeal and Review Board in the form set forth in

Schedule “A” attached to and forming part of the Report and Recommendation; (

b) pursuant to

Section 32 of

Chapter 6 of the Acts of 1996, the Meat Inspection Act , amend the Meat Inspection Regulations , N.S. Reg. 46/1990, made by the Governor in Council by Order in Council 90-180 dated February 13, 1990, to remove provisions related to appeals to the Meat Inspection Board, in the manner set forth in

Schedule “B” attached to and forming part of the Report and Recommendation; (

c) pursuant to

Section 6 of

Chapter 113 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Crop and Livestock Insurance Act , approve amendments made by the Nova Scotia Crop and Livestock Insurance Commission to: (

i) the General Crop Insurance Plans Regulations , N.S. Reg. 7/2012, made by the Nova Scotia Crop and Livestock Insurance Commission on October 13, 2011, and approved by the Governor in Council by Order in Council 2012-6 dated January 10, 2012, in the manner set forth in

Schedule “C” attached to and forming part of the Report and Recommendation; (ii) the Livestock Price Insurance Plan Regulations , N.S. Reg. 23/2025, made by the Nova Scotia Crop and Livestock Insurance Commission on June 26, 2024, and approved by the Governor in Council by Order in Council 2025-21 dated February 4, 2025, in the manner set forth in

Schedule “D” attached to and forming part of the Report and Recommendation; (iii) the Dairy Livestock Insurance Plan , N.S. Reg. 66/2021, made by the Nova Scotia Crop and Livestock Insurance Commission on December 17, 2020, and approved by the Governor in Council by Order in Council 2021-106 dated April 27, 2021, in the manner set forth in

Schedule “E” attached to and forming part of the Report and Recommendation; and (iv) the Poultry Insurance Plan , N.S. Reg. 339/2007, made by the Nova Scotia Crop and Livestock Insurance Commission on June 7, 2007, and approved by the Governor in Council by Order in Council 2007-394 dated July 13, 2007, in the manner set forth in

Schedule “F” attached to and forming part of the Report and Recommendation; (

d) pursuant to

Section 47 of

Chapter 21 of the Acts of 2018, the Animal Protection Act , repeal the Animal Welfare Appeal Board Regulations , N.S. Reg. 184/2019, made by the Governor in Council by Order in Council 2019-321 dated November 12, 2019; (

e) pursuant to

Section 7 of

Chapter 113 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Crop and Livestock Insurance Act , repeal the Arbitration Proceedings Regulations , N.S. Reg. 71/1997, made by the Governor in Council by Order in Council 97-371 dated June 10, 1997; (

f) pursuant to

Section 15 of

Chapter 3 of the Acts of 2000, the Farm Practices Act , repeal the Farm Practices Board Regulations , N.S. Reg. 16/2001, made by the Governor in Council by Order in Council 2001-112 dated March 2, 2001; and (

g) pursuant to subsection 4(4) of the

Schedule to

Chapter 16 of the Acts of 2025, the Agriculture Appeal and Review Board Act , order that: (

i) the Chair of the Agriculture Appeal and Review Board be remunerated for their service in the amount of $300.00 per day, or $150.00 for business lasting less than four hours, and be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred in fulfilling duties as Chair, provided such reimbursements do not exceed those normally payable to members of the civil service; (ii) the Vice-chair of the Agriculture Appeal and Review Board be remunerated for their service in the amount of $275.00 per day, or $137.50 for business lasting less than four hours, and be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred in fulfilling duties as Vice-chair, provided such reimbursements do not exceed those normally payable to members of the civil service; and (iii) the members of the Agriculture Appeal and Review Board be remunerated for their service in the amount of $250.00 per day, or $125.00 for business lasting less than four hours, and be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred in fulfilling duties as members, provided such reimbursements do not exceed those normally payable to members of the civil service.
