OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Justice and Attorney General dated October 29, 2002, and pursuant to Sections 3 and 4 of
Chapter 252 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Legal Aid Act, is pleased to: (
a) appoint the following persons as directors of the Nova Scotia Legal Aid Commission, each for a term of office of three years commencing November 28, 2002: (
i) Donald G. Harding of Shelburne, Shelburne County; (ii) Patrick J. Murray, Q.C., of Sydney, Cape Breton Regional Municipality; and (iii) Glenn Joudrey of Kingston, Kings County; (
b) appoint Donald G. Harding of Shelburne, Shelburne County, as Chair of the Commission for a term of three years commencing November 28, 2002; (
c) provide that the remuneration of Patrick J. Murray, Q.C., and Glenn Joudrey as directors shall be at the rate of $150 for each day of meetings of the Commission or a committee of it, to a maximum of $600 for each fiscal year; (
d) provide that the remuneration of Donald G. Harding as director and chair shall be at the rate of $300 for each day of attendance at Commission business; (
e) direct that the reasonable traveling and living expenses incurred by Donald G. Harding, Patrick J. Murray, Q.C., and Glenn Joudrey in performing their duties associated with the Legal Aid Commission be paid in accordance with the established guidelines approved for Civil Servants; and (
f) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against Donald G. Harding, Patrick J. Murray, Q.C., and Glenn Joudrey and indemnify them from personal liability, provided that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of their activities in relation to their appointment and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends them, the Province will be in control of the case.
