An Act to Amend

Chapter 240 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Judicature Act

OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, dated February 20, 2020, pursuant to Sections 32A and 32H of

Chapter 240 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Judicature Act , and

Section 10 of

Chapter 5 of the Acts of 1997,

An Act to Amend

Chapter 240 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Judicature Act , is pleased to, effective February 28, 2020, amend Order in Council 1999-167, dated April 14, 1999, as follows: (

a) Amend clause (

a) by replacing “and” with “,” immediately after “Cape Breton District”, and adding “, Central District and Southwestern District” immediately after “Halifax District”; (

b) Add the following clause (aa): designate the jurisdiction in Cape Breton District, Halifax District, Central District and Southwestern District as concurrent; (

c) Amend clause (

b) by replacing “exclusive jurisdiction” with “concurrent jurisdiction”; (

d) Add the following as clause (f): designate the Family Court records and files in the Central District and the Southwestern District as records and files of the Family Division of the Supreme Court for the Province of Nova Scotia for those matters that are transferred to the Family Division of the Supreme Court.
