Statute: Labour Board Act

OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Labour and Advanced Education dated June 1, 2011, and pursuant to Sections 3, 6, 19 and 20 of

Chapter 37 of the Acts of 2010, the Labour Board Act, is pleased to: (

a) designate E. A. Nelson Blackburn of Bedford, Halifax Regional Municipality, as a vice-chair of the Labour Board for a term of office commencing June 30, 2011 and expiring January 18, 2012; (

b) designate Tony W. Mozvik of Sydney, Cape Breton Regional Municipality, as a vice-chair of the Labour Board for a term of office commencing June 30, 2011 and expiring December 17, 2013; (

c) designate Paul Voynovich of East Bay, Cape Breton Regional Municipality, as a vice-chair of the Labour Board for a term of office commencing June 30, 2011 and expiring December 1, 2013; (

d) fix the remuneration of E. A. Nelson Blackburn, Tony Mozvik and Paul Voynovitch in the following aggregate amounts, payable to each for service as a vice-chair of the Labour Board: (

i) an annual $10,000 honorarium to be paid pro rata; (ii) $300.00 per day for each day he conducts a hearing as a vice-chair or participates in necessary training; (iii) $150.00 per day for each day he necessarily attends to the business of the Labour Board as a vice-chair except while conducting a hearing or participating in necessary training; (iv) such actual and reasonable expenses as may be incurred by him in the discharge of his duties; (

e) designate Gerardette Brown of River Ryan, Cape Breton Regional Municipality, as an employee member of the Labour Board for a term of office commencing June 30, 2011 and expiring February 8, 2013; (

f) designate Darren Gardiner of Sydney, Cape Breton Regional Municipality, as an employer member of the Labour Board for a term of office commencing June 30, 2011 and expiring February 8, 2013; (

g) designate Andrea D. Gillis of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, as an employer member of the Labour Board for a term of office commencing June 30, 2011 and expiring May 3, 2012; (

h) designate Janet Harden of Liverpool, Queens County, as an employer member of the Labour Board for a term of office commencing June 30, 2011 and expiring February 8, 2013; (

i) designate Demetri Kachafanas of Sydney, Cape Breton Regional Municipality, as an employer member of the Labour Board for a term of office commencing June 30, 2011 and expiring February 8, 2013; (

j) designate Thomas Kennedy of Glace Bay, Cape Breton Regional Municipality, as an employee member of the Labour Board, for a term of office commencing June 30, 2011 and expiring April 23, 2013; (

k) designate Robert McArel of Dartmouth, Halifax Regional Municipality, as an employer member of the Labour Board for a term of office commencing June 30, 2011 and expiring February 8, 2013; (

l) designate A. Ross Mitchell of Dartmouth, Halifax Regional Municipality, as an employee member of the Labour Board for a term of office commencing June 30, 2011 and expiring February 8, 2013; (

m) designate Deborah Ryan of Dartmouth, Halifax Regional Municipality, as an employee member of the Labour Board for a term of office commencing June 30, 2011 and expiring April 23, 2013; (

n) designate Fielding P. Smith of New Glasgow, Pictou County, as an employee member of the Labour Board for a term of office commencing June 30, 2011 and expiring March 22, 2013; (

o) designate Betty Jean Sutherland of Westville, Pictou County, as an employee member of the Labour Board for a term of office commencing June 30, 2011 and expiring March 22, 2013; (

p) designate Byron Tanner of Bridgewater, Lunenburg County, as an employer member of the Labour Board for a term of office commencing June 30, 2011 and expiring May 3, 2012; (

q) designate Marinus Van de Sande of Truro, Colchester County, as an employer member of the Labour Board for a term of office commencing June 30, 2011 and expiring September 7, 2011; (

r) designate Shannon R. Webb of Dartmouth, Halifax Regional Municipality, as an employer member of the Labour Board for a term of office commencing June 30, 2011 and expiring May 3, 2012; (

s) designate Robert H. Wells of Northport, Cumberland County, as an employee member of the Labour Board for a term of office commencing June 30, 2011 and expiring February 8, 2013; and (

t) fix the remuneration of each of the employer and employee members of the Labour Board in the following aggregate amounts for their service as an employer or employee member: (i) $200.00 per day for each day the member conducts a hearing as a member or participates in necessary training; : (ii) $150.00 per day for each day the member necessarily attends to the business of the Labour Board as a member except while conducting a hearing or participating in necessary training; and (iii) such actual and reasonable expenses as may be incurred in the discharge of their duties.
