Bill 76 BILL 76 1975 (Second Session) THE G'OVERNM'ENT HOUSE ACT (Assented to 1975) HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, enacts as follows: 1. In this Act (a) "Foundation" means The Government House Foun dation established under

section 2,; (b) "board'" means the board of directors established pursuant to

section 2; (c) "Government House" means the building at 12845 - 102 Avenue in the City of Edmonton commonly known as "Government House"; (d) "Minister" means the member of the Executive .Council charged by the Lieutenant.Governor in Council with the administration of this Act. 2. (1) .T.here .is. herebyestablished . .a .. cm:·poratiQl1 with the name' "The G()vernmentRouse' Foundation" coiisisting of a board of directors.

(2) The board shall consist of not more than 12 directors appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council to serve for such term as may be designated in their respective appointments.

(3) A majority of the directors constitutes a quorum.

(4) The Minister may authorize, fix and provide for the payment of expenses to the dir'ectors. 3.

(1) The objects of the Foundation are (

a) to advis'e the Minister on the preservation of Gov ernment House as an historic site and building; (

b) to inform and stimulate the interest· of the:.public in the historical and architectural development of Government House;

c) to solicit and receive, by gift, bequel?t, devise, trans fer or otherwise any personal property for use or display in Government House.

(2) The business and affairs of the Foundation shall be conducted by the board. 4.

(1) In furtherance of its obJects, the Foundation may (

a) acquire personal property, whether by purchase, donation, lease, public subscription or otherwise; (

b) enter into agreements with any person respecting any matter within the obJects of the Foundation.

(2) Any personal property acquired by the Foundation is owned by the Crown in right of Alberta subject to any conditions or restrictions imposed in respect of the property when it was acquired by the Foundation.

(3) The Minister may provide to the Foundation the services of any employees of the Government of Alberta under his administration to carry out secretarial, clerical and other duties and work required by the Foundation at no cost to the Foundation. 5. This Act comes into force on the day upon which it is assented to. 2
