EXPLANATORY NOTE NOTE EXPLICATIVE The Pooled Registered Pension Plans Act (Canada) provides a legal framework for the registration, administration and regulatory supervision of a type of pension plan that h is similar to a defined contribution plan, except that employer contributions are not mandatory; h is open to employees and self-employed persons engaged in work that falls within the legislative authority of Canada; and h pools the funds in members' accounts to achieve lower costs in relation to investment management and plan administration. This Bill provides the legal framework for such a p lan to be open to employees and self-employed persons in Manitoba who are engaged in work that falls within the legislative authority of the Legislative Assembly o f Manitoba.
