I, Sam MacLeod, Superintendent of Motor Vehicles, order that, effective March 1, 2016, the Lien on Impounded Motor Vehicles Regulation, B.C. Reg. 25/2015, is amended as set out in the attached Appendix.

Appendix

Section 3 (

a) of the Lien on Impounded Motor Vehicles Regulation, B.C. Reg. 25/2015, is amended

(

a) in subparagraph (

i) by striking out “ $22.87 per day ” and substituting “ $23.28 per day ”,

(

b) in subparagraph (ii) by striking out “ $21.83 per day ” and substituting “ $22.22 per day ”,

(

c) in subparagraph (iii) by striking out “ $19.75 per day ” and substituting “ $20.11 per day ”, and

(

d) in subparagraph (iv) by striking out “ $15.59 per day ” and substituting “ $15.87 per day ”.

Section 3 (

b) is repealed and the following substituted:

b) for towing, the towing cost determined under

section 4; .

Section 3 (

c) is amended

(

a) in subparagraph (

i) by striking out “ $34.43 ” and substituting “ $35.05 ”, and

(

b) in subparagraph (ii) by striking out “ $68.85 ” and substituting “ $70.09 ”.

4 The following

section is added:

Towing cost

(1) For the purposes of

section 3 (b), the towing cost is the sum of the following:

(

a) the basic towing cost determined in accordance with subsection (2) of this section;

(

b) a fuel surcharge equal to 12% of the basic towing cost;

(

c) if the towing distance is more than 32 km, a charge for the use of dollies in the amount of

(i) $0.43 per km for each km towed on a paved highway, and

(ii) $0.63 per km for each km towed on an unpaved highway.

(2) The basic towing cost for a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight within a range described in column 2, 3, 4 or 5 of the following table is the cost set out in or determined in accordance with that column, opposite the applicable towing distance described in column 1.

(3) In determining an amount in accordance with subsection (1) (

c) or in accordance with columns 2 to 5 in items 2 to 4 of the table, the towing distance is to be expressed to the nearest tenth of a kilometre.
