MR. SPEAKER: The Honourable the Leader of the Opposition.

MR. D. BARRETT (Leader of the Opposition): Mr. Speaker, it's

one of those rare occasions when I ask the House to be on its very best

behaviour. The reason for that is today my mother has come over to

observe it. I'd like the House to welcome her.

MR. SPEAKER: The Honourable the Premier.

HON. W.A.C. BENNETT (Premier): Mr. Speaker, it's not often

that we have the mother of one of the leaders of our political parties.

I want to join with her son in giving her a very warm welcome. I ask

all Members of the House to be on very good behaviour today.

MR. SPEAKER: The Honourable the Minister of Recreation and Conservation.

HON. W.K. KIERNAN (Minister of Recreation and Conservation):

Mr. Speaker, might I ask the House to extend a welcome to 72 pupils

from one of our schools in Chilliwack and their school principal, Mr.

Bill Bunt.

MR. SPEAKER: The Honourable the Minister of Industrial Development.

HON. W.M. SKILLINGS (Minister of Industrial Development, Trade and Commerce):

Mr. Speaker, I'd ask the House to be particularly good today because my

good wife is in the gallery along with 10 members of the Capital City

Social Credit Women's Auxiliary.

MR. SPEAKER: The Honourable Member for Burnaby Edmonds.

MR. G.H. DOWDING (Burnaby-Edmonds): Mr. Speaker, I'd like the

House also to welcome a busload of people from Burnaby-Edmonds,

Burnaby-Willingdon, and Burnaby North who are up in the galleries today.

MR. SPEAKER: The Honourable Member for North Vancouver–Capilano.

MR. D.M. BROUSSON (North Vancouver–Capilano): Mr. Speaker,

I'd like on behalf of my colleague the Member from North

Vancouver–Seymour to ask the House to welcome a class from Windsor

Secondary School in North Vancouver.

MR. SPEAKER: The Honourable Member for Delta.

MR. R. WENMAN (Delta): Mr. Speaker, I'd like to ask the House

to welcome a group of young people from Delta. This is just one of the

young Socred groups in Delta. Delta Young Socreds.

MR. SPEAKER: The Honourable the Minister of Public Works.

HON. W.N. CHANT (Minister of Public Works): Mr. Speaker, I have the honour to present a message from His Honour the Lieutenant-Governor.

SAFETY ENGINEERING SERVICES ACT

MR. SPEAKER: The Lieutenant-Governor transmits herewith a bill intituled Safety Engineering Services Act , and recommends the same to the legislative assembly. Dated at Government House, March 9, 1972.
