EXPLANATORY NOTE NOTE EXPLICATIVE This Bill proclaims the month of April in each year as Sikh Heritage (Creation of the Khalsa) Month. En vertu du présent projet de loi, le mois d'avril est proclamé Mois du patrimoine sikh (fondation du Khal sa).

BILL 229 PROJET DE LOI 229 THE SIKH HERITAGE (CREATION OF THE KHALSA) MONTH ACT

WHEREAS Manitoba is home to a large and vibrant Sikh community; AND

WHEREAS Sikh Canadians have made significant contributions to the growth and prosperity of Manitoba and to its strength as a multicultural society; AND

WHEREAS the month of April is meaningful for the Sikh community around the world; AND

WHEREAS April is the month in which the Sikh community celebrates the creation of the Khalsa and the Sikh articles of faith as well as the values of huma nity, tolerance and equality that they represent; AND

WHEREAS a month that honours Sikh heritage and the creation of the Khalsa is an opportunity to remember, celebrate and educate future generations about Sikh Canadians and the important role that th ey have played and continue to play in communities across Manitoba; Attendu : que le Manitoba compte une communauté sikhe importante et dynamique; que les Canadiens sikhs ont contribué de manière importante à la croissance et à la prospérité du Manitoba ainsi qu'à sa force en tant que société multiculturelle; que le mois d'avril est un mois important pour la communauté sikhe dans le monde entier; qu'avril est le mois pendant lequel la communauté sikhe célèbre la fondation du Khalsa et la définition des articles de foi sikhs ainsi que les valeurs d'humanité, de tolérance et d'égalité qu'ils représentent; qu'un mois qui rend hommage au patrimoine sikh et à la fondation du Khalsa offre une occasion d'éduquer les générations à venir ainsi que de commémorer et de célébrer les Canadiens sikhs qui ont joué et qui continuent de jouer un rôle important dans les communautés du Manitoba, 1
