EXPLANATORY NOTE NOTE EXPLICATIVE This Bill proclaims the month of April of each year as Sikh Heritage Month. En vertu du présent projet de loi, le mois d'avril est proclamé « Mois du patrimoine sikh ».

BILL 228 PROJET DE LOI 228 THE SIKH HERITAGE MONTH ACT

WHEREAS Sikh Canadians represent a growing and dynamic population in Manitoba; AND

WHEREAS Sikh Canadians have made important contributions to Manitoba's social, economic, politica l and cultural life; AND

WHEREAS it is important to support Sikh heritage, art and culture and those organizations in Manitoba that promote and enhance Sikh social and cultural life; AND

WHEREAS April is an important month for Sikh Canadians as it marks the creation of the Khalsa Panth; Attendu : que les Canadiens sikhs représentent une population dynamique et grandissante au Manitoba; que les Canadiens sikhs ont contribué de manière importante à la vie sociale, économique, politique et culturelle du Manitoba; qu'il est important de soutenir le patrimoine, l'art et la culture sikhs ainsi que les organismes au Manitoba qui favorisent et réhaussent la vie sociale et culturelle des Sikhs; que le mois d'avril est un mois important pour les Canadiens sikhs, car il marque la création du Khalsa Panth, THEREFORE HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows: SA MAJESTÉ, sur l'avis et avec le consentement de l'Assemblée législative du Manitoba, édicte : Sikh Heritage Month 1 The month of April in each year is to be known throughout Manitoba as Sikh Heritage Month.
