AN ACT TO AMEND THE HOSPITALS ACT (Assented to , 1984) HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, enacts as follows: 1 The Hospitals Act is amended by this Act. 2 The following is added after

section 5: 5.1 If, in respect of an approved hospital with a rated capacity in excess of beds, the hospital board and the district board pass resolutions supporting the establishment of a palliative care unit to be operated in connection with the approved hospital, the Minister shall take the resolutions under consideration and if he is of the opinion that a palliative care unit should be established, he may include it in the hospital program for the hospital district, subject to the appropriation of money for that purpose by the Legislature. 3 This Act comes into force on Proclamation.
