EXPLANATORY NOTE NOTE EXPLICATIVE This Bill proclaims the month of May of each year as Jewish Heritage Month. En vertu du présent projet de loi, le mois de mai est proclamé « Mois du patrimoine juif ».

WHEREAS Manitoba is home to a strong and vibrant Jewish community; AND

WHEREAS Manitoba's Jewish community is the fifth-largest Jewish population in Canada; AND

WHEREAS Manitoba's Jewish community reflects the vibrant history and diverse culture of the Jewish people; AND

WHEREAS the Jewish community has made significant contributions to the growth and prosperity of Manitoba while overcoming tremendous obstacles; AND

WHEREAS the month of May is meaningful for the Jewish community; AND

WHEREAS celebrating the Jewish community in Manitoba will provide an opportunity to educate future generations about the inspirational role that Jewish Manitobans have played and continue to play across Manitoba; Attendu : que la communauté juive du Manitoba est forte et dynamique; que cette communauté se situe au cinquième rang des plus grandes communautés juives au Canada; qu'elle est le reflet de l'histoire dynamique et de la diversité culturelle du peuple juif; que la communauté juive a contribué de manière importante à l'essor et à la prospérité du Manitoba tout en surmontant d'énormes obstacles; que le mois de mai revêt une importance particulière pour la communauté juive; que célébrer la communauté juive au Manitoba offrira l'occasion de sensibiliser les générations futures au rôle inspirant que les Manitobains juifs ont joué et continuent de jouer partout dans la province, 1

THEREFORE HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows: SA MAJESTÉ, sur l'avis et avec le consentement de l'Assemblée législative du Manitoba, édicte : Jewish Heritage Month 1 In each year, the month of May is to be known throughout Manitoba as Jewish Heritage Month.
