Statute: Wilderness Areas Protection Act

OIC Text: The Governor in Council, on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Environment and Climate Change and the Minister of Natural Resources and Renewables dated November 29, 2023, and pursuant to clause 11(3)(

b) of

Chapter 27 of the Acts of 1998, the Wilderness Areas Protection Act , is pleased to approve the designation of additional land to the following seven wilderness areas by the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, effective on and after December 19, 2023: (

a) the addition of 15 hectares to Blue Mountain-Birch Cove Lakes Wilderness Area, originally designated by the Minister of Environment and approved by the Governor in Council by Order in Council 2009-198 dated April 21, 2009, N.S. Reg. 201/2009, in the manner set forth in

Schedule “A” attached to and forming part of the Report and Recommendation; (

b) the addition of 40 hectares to Devils Jaw Wilderness Area, originally designated by the Minister of Environment and approved by the Governor in Council by Order in Council 2015-389 dated December 29, 2015, N.S. Reg. 389/2015, in the manner set forth in

Schedule “B” attached to and forming part of the Report and Recommendation; (

c) the addition of 191 hectares to Fourchu Coast Wilderness Area, originally designated by the Minister of Environment and approved by the Governor in Council by Order in Council 2015-421 dated December 29, 2015, N.S. Reg. 421/2015, in the manner set forth in

Schedule “C” attached to and forming part of the Report and Recommendation; (

d) the addition of 175 hectares to Gully Lake Wilderness Area, originally designated by the Minister of Environment and Labour and approved by the Governor in Council by Order in Council 2005-165 dated April 22, 2005, N.S. Reg. 91/2005, in the manner set forth in

Schedule “D” attached to and forming part of the Report and Recommendation; (

e) the addition of 144 hectares to Liscomb River Wilderness Area, originally designated in item 13 of

Schedule A to the Act , in the manner set forth in

Schedule “E” attached to and forming part of the Report and Recommendation; (

f) the addition of 134 hectares to Ogden Round Lake Wilderness Area, originally designated in item 19 of

Schedule A to the Act , in the manner set forth in

Schedule “F” attached to and forming part of the Report and Recommendation; and (

g) the addition of 38 hectares to Trout Brook Wilderness Area, originally designated in item 28 of

Schedule A to the Act , in the manner set forth in

Schedule “G” attached to and forming part of the Report and Recommendation.
