An Act to Amend the Family Services Act Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as fol- lows: 1

Section of the Family Services Act,

chapter F-2.2 of the Acts of New Brunswick, 1980, is amended by add- ing the following definition in alphabetical order: “safe haven” means that parents of children 72 hours old or younger are able to give possession of their child away to an emergency room nurse without fear of prose- cution provided the child has no signs of abuse or neglect; 2

Section of the Act is amended by adding after sub- section (3) the following: 3(4) The Minister and any person authorized under paragraph (1)(

b) to exercise any authority, power, duty or function conferred upon the Minister shall create and im- plement a safe haven policy. 3 This Act comes into force on a day to be fixed by proclamation. PROJET DE LOI Loi modifiant la

Loi sur les services à la famille cha- pitre F-2.2 des Lois du Nouveau-Brunswick de 1980, est modifié par l’adjonction de la définition suivante selon l’ordre alphabétique : « zone de refuge » s’entend par ce qui suit : parents d’un enfant âgé de heures ou moins qui peuvent remet- tre leur enfant à une infirmière de salle d’urgence sans crainte d’une ordonnance du tribunal à condition que l’en- fant ne présente aucun signe de mauvais traitements ou de négligence. 2 L’article de la Loi est modifié par l’adjonction de ce qui suit après le paragraphe (3) : 3(4) Le Ministre ou toute autre personne autorisée en application de l’alinéa

(1) b) à exercer une autorité, un pouvoir ou une fonction conféré au Ministre créera une politique sur la zone de refuge. 3 La présente loi entre en vigueur à la date fixée par proclamation.
