OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Justice dated November 28, 2001, and pursuant to

Section 672.38 of

Chapter C-46 of the Revised Statutes of Canada, 1985, the Criminal Code, is pleased to: (

a) reappoint the Honourable William J. Grant, Q.C., of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, as a member of the Nova Scotia Review Board and designate him as Chair of the Board for a further term of office of three years commencing December 23, 2001; (

b) reappoint Dr. Richard Howard of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, as a member of the Nova Scotia Review Board for a further term of office of three years commencing December 23, 2001; (

c) determine that the remuneration of the Honourable William J. Grant, Q.C., be at the rate of $100.00 per hour to a maximum of $4,500.00 per month/$54,000.00 per year together with reasonable expenses; (

d) determine that the remuneration of Dr. Richard Howard be at the rate of $75.00 per hour together with reasonable expenses; and (

e) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against the above appointees and indemnify them from personal liability provided the Province is satisfied the claim arises out of their activities in relation to their appointments and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends them, the Province will be in control of the case.
