Order in Council 209/2024
On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:
And
whereas the said mining lease was issued on November 9, 2001 as Mining Lease 107377 (the “ Lease ”);
And
whereas the Lease contained, among other things, a provision which, if certain preconditions are met, provides for a renewal of one further term of 21 years, at such rental and royalty charges and subject to such reservations, provisions, and conditions as the Lessor considers expedient;
And
whereas Compass Minerals Canada Corp. (“ Compass ”), being the successor by amalgamation to Sifto Canada Inc., has applied for the renewal of the Lease and the Minister of Mines (the “ Minister ”) is satisfied that all preconditions to renewal have been met;
And
whereas the Minister wishes to issue a renewed lease containing, among other things, a provision allowing potential additional renewals by the Minister for periods of 21 years each, provided that the productive mine life has not been exhausted and other preconditions are met, in keeping with the original intention of Order in Council number 1228/2001;
