Explanatory Note I. This Bill will amend

chapter 35 of the Statutes of Alberta, 1965.

Section 8 presently reads: 8.

(1) The Minister shall establish and administer a stock advance fund for the Department of Highways.

(2) The Provincial Treasurer upon the requisition of the Minister may make advances from the General Revenue Fund to the stock advance fund of such sums as the Minister may require to pay for land, machinery, equipment, stock or material required by the De partment.

(3) The net amount of the advances at any time shall not exceed ten mallion dollars.

(4) The Provincial Treasurer shall not make advances to the stock advance fund for the purchase of land in excess of five hundred thou sand dollars in anyone year, nor shall more than one hundred thou sand dollars be advanced for the payment of anyone parcel of land. 3. Commencement of Act.

An Act tQ amend The Department .of Highways Act (Assented to , 1966) HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and CQnsent .of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Alberta, enacts as follows: 1. The Department of Highways Act is hereby amended.

Section 8 is amended (

a) as tQ subsection (3) by striking .out the word "ten" and by substituting the word "thirteen", (

b) as to subsection (4) by striking .out the words "five hundred thousand" and by substituting the words "one million". 3. This Act comes into force on the day upon which it is assented tQ.
