Explanatory Note This Act requires employers in designated industries to lodge security for twelve months' wages with the Minister.

Section 8 provides that the Minister may exempt any employer from the requirement of giving security when the Board of Public Utility Commissioners certifies that it is satisfied with the financial position of the employer and his ability to pay the wages of his employees. The proposed amendments will transfer the duties and functions of the Board under this

section to the Provincial Auditor.

An Act to amend The Industrial Wages Security Act (Assented to , 1959) HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Alberta, enacts as follows:

Section 8 of The Industrial Wages Security Act, being

chapter 155 of the Revised Statutes is hereby amended (

a) as to subsections (1), (2), (3) and (4) by striking out the words "Board of Public Utility Commis sioners" and by substituting the words "Provincial Auditor", (

b) as to subseetions (2) and (3) by striking out the word "Board" and by substituting the words "Pro vincial Auditor". 2. This Act comes into force on the day upon which it is assented to.
