OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Economic Development and Tourism dated March 23, 1999, pursuant to Sections 3 and 5 of

Chapter 222 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Industrial Development Act, and pursuant to Sections 70, 71 and 72 of

Chapter 365 of the said Revised Statutes, the Provincial Finance Act, is pleased to: (

a) approve of the establishment of a corporation to be called "Bedford Waterfront Development Corporation Limited", generally for the purpose of coordinating, acquiring, owning, developing, constructing, maintaining, controlling, managing, selling, leasing or otherwise dealing with any lands, premises or undertakings relating to the development of the waterfront on the Bedford Basin; the Corporation to have all the objects and powers of a company incorporated under the Companies Act of Nova Scotia, and more particularly outlined in

Schedule "A" attached to and forming part of the report and recommendation; (

b) appoint as Directors of Bedford Waterfront Development Corporation Limited, on the recommendation of the Halifax Regional Municipality, the following persons for a term ending November 10, 2000: (

i) Doug Williams of Bedford, Halifax Regional Municipality; (ii) Cedric Pilkington of Bedford, Halifax Regional Municipality; (

c) appoint as Director and Chair of the Board of Directors of Bedford Waterfront Development Corporation Limited, on the recommendation of the Halifax Regional Municipality, the following person for a term ending August 20, 2001: (

i) Richard Hattin of Bedford, Halifax Regional Municipality; (

d) approve payment of remuneration in the amount of $200 for the Chair of the Board and $100 for each Director of the Board, for each day spent at Board meetings; (

e) authorize Bedford Waterfront Development Corporation Limited, subject to such terms and conditions as the Minister of Economic Development and Tourism may impose, to enter into and execute such agreements as may be required from time to time to carry out the objects of Bedford Waterfront Development Corporation Limited all such agreements to be subject to the approval of the Minister of Justice; (

f) authorize the transfer of all assets and assumption of all liabilities of Bedford Waterfront Development Corporation to Bedford Waterfront Development Corporation Limited; (

g) confer the status of Crown Corporation upon Bedford Waterfront Development Corporation Limited, pursuant to

Section 71 of the Provincial Finance Act; and (

h) assign to the Minister of Economic Development and Tourism responsibility for administration and undertakings related to Bedford Waterfront Development Corporation Limited.
