Riverside Beach Designation

made under subsection 5(1) of the

Beaches Act

R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 32

The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and

Forests dated the 7th day of January, A.D., 1977, pursuant to

Section 5(1) of

Chapter 6 of the

Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1975, the Beaches Preservation and Protection Act , is pleased to

designate as a beach an area of land lying landward from the mean high water mark of

Riverside Beach, situate at Parrsboro, in the County of Cumberland, Province of Nova Scotia,

as shown outlined in red on the copy of Crown Land Records Office Plan No. E-10-67, marked

Schedule “B” and described in

Schedule “A”, both attached to and forming part of the report

and recommendation.

Schedule “A”

All that certain area of land lying landward from the mean high water mark of Riverside Beach,

situate at Parrsboro, in the County of Cumberland, Province of Nova Scotia as shown outlined

in red on the copy of Crown Land Records Office Plan No. E-10-67, attached hereto and being

more particularly described as follows:

Beginning at Point “A” as shown on said Plan No. E-10-67, said point being the centre of the

most southeasterly circular steel and concrete bollard situated on the Government Wharf at

Parrsboro;

From thence (by grid bearings based on the three degree Transverse Mercator Projection, Zone

5, Central Meridian 64° 30' West Longitude) north thirty-three degrees ten minutes forty-four

seconds west, two hundred eighty-four decimal ninety-seven feet to Point “B”, said point being

the centre of a circular steel and concrete bollard situated on the aforementioned Government

Wharf;

Thence north eighty degrees five minutes fifteen seconds east, nine hundred thirty-two decimal

seventy-four feet to Point “C”, said point being an iron pipe;

Thence north seventy-one degrees thirty-one minutes fifty seconds east, three hundred

forty-eight decimal zero one feet to Point “D”, said point being the most easterly end of a

wooden seawall;

Thence north fifty degrees zero minutes thirteen seconds east, eight hundred fifteen decimal

eighty-seven feet to Point “E”, said point being an enheat iron post;

Thence south fifty-six degrees three minutes fifty-one seconds east, six hundred forty-five

decimal forty-nine feet to Point “F”, said point being situated on the mean high water line of the

Minas Channel and said point also being an enheat iron post;

Thence continuing south fifty-six degrees three minutes fifty-one seconds east, one thousand

decimal zero feet to Point “G”, said point being a theoretical point situated on the

aforementioned Minas Channel;

Thence in a southwesterly direction and in a direct line to Point “H”, said point being an enheat

iron post situated at the intersection of the southerly boundary of Salter Brook so-called, and the

northerly boundary of an unnamed brook, and also being situated where the waters of said

brook enter the Minas Channel;

Thence north twenty-nine degrees thirty-four minutes forty-five seconds east, one thousand two

hundred seventy decimal fifty-two feet to a Point “I”, said point being a wooden stake;

Thence north twenty degrees four minutes forty-seven seconds west, three hundred thirty-eight

decimal thirty-eight feet to Point “J”, said point being a wooden stake;

Thence north sixty degrees fifteen minutes forty-seven seconds west, three hundred

seventy-five decimal thirty-one feet to Point “K”, said point being an iron bolt in the top of an

old wooden seawall, said point being also on a prolongation of the centre line of Lighthouse

Road, so-called;

Thence north thirty-one degrees fourteen minutes thirty-eight seconds east, to the place of

beginning.

Excepting and reserving from the above described area of land all the portion thereof lying

seaward from the mean high water mark.
