Glace Bay Beach Designation

made under subsection 5(1) of the

Beaches Act

R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 32

O.I.C. 76-1213 (October 19, 1976), N.S. Reg. 150/76

The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and

Forests dated the 22nd day of September, A.D., 1976, pursuant to

Section 5(1) of

Chapter 6 of

the Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1975, the Beaches Preservation and Protection Act , is pleased to

designate as a beach an area of land lying landward from the mean high watermark of Glace

Bay Beach, in the County of Cape Breton, Province of Nova Scotia, as shown outlined in red

on the copy of Crown Land Records Office Plan No. E-7-83, marked

Schedule “B” and

described in

Schedule “A”, both attached to and forming part of the report and

recommendation.

Schedule “A”

All that certain area of land lying landward from the mean high watermark of Glace Bay Beach,

in the County of Cape Breton, Province of Nova Scotia as shown outlined in red on the copy of

Crown Land Records Office Plan No. E-7-83, attached hereto and being more particularly

described as follows:

Beginning at iron post situated on the mean high watermark of Big Glace Bay Lake, said post

being a distance of one thousand one hundred feet more or less southwest of the road leading to

Glace Bay Beach, having co-ordinates (N 16, 786, 759.03 E 1, 395, 132.05) based on the Nova

Scotia Three Degree Transverse Mercator Projection, Zone 4, Central Meridian Sixty-one

degrees thirty minutes west;

From thence (by astronomic bearings referenced to Meridian 61° 30'

W) north forty-four

degrees seventeen minutes forty-one seconds east one thousand eight hundred eighty-four

decimal ninety-nine feet to an iron post having co-ordinates (N 16, 788, 108.23, E 1, 396, 448.43);

Thence south seventy degrees fifty-three minutes forty-five seconds east five thousand five

hundred thirty-seven decimal forty-five feet to an iron post having co-ordinates (N 16, 786, 295.91, E 1, 401, 680.91);

Thence south forty-three degrees fifty-five minutes sixteen seconds west one thousand eight

hundred fifty-one decimal forty-nine feet to an iron post having co-ordinates (N 16, 784, 962.29, E 1, 400, 396.59);

Thence south seventy-six degrees zero minutes forty-one seconds west five thousand four

hundred twenty-five decimal forty-four feet to a point “A” situate in the waters of Big Glace

Bay Lake and having co-ordinates (N 16, 783, 650.80, E 1, 395, 132.05);

Thence north three thousand one hundred eight decimal twenty-three feet to the place of

beginning.

Excepting and reserving from the above described area of land all the portion thereof lying

seaward from the mean high watermark.
