Definitions Définitions 1 The following

definitions apply in this Act. 1 Les définitions qui suivent s’appliquent à la présente loi. “Commission” means the Local Governance Commis‐ sion established in

section 3. (Commission) “Commissioner” means the person appointed Com ‐ missioner of Local Governance Affairs under paragraph 5(1)(a). (commissaire) “committee of supervisors” means a committee of su ‐ pervisors referred to in

section 27. (conseil d’administra‐ teurs) “council” means the mayor and councillors of a local government. (conseil) “inspector” means an inspector appointed under sec ‐ tion 17. (inspecteur) “local board ” means (

a) a body whose entire membership is appointed under the authority of a council, (

b) a corporation referred to in subsection 8(1) of the Local Governance Act, (

c) a water or wastewater commission established under

section 15.2 of the Clean Environment Act, (

d) a committee of a regional service commission, and (

e) any other body prescribed by regulation. ( com‐ mission locale) “local government” means a local government as de ‐ fined in subsection 1(1) of the Local Governance Act . (gouvernement local) “Minister” means the Minister of Local Government and Local Governance Reform and includes any person designated by the Minister to act on the Minister’s be ‐ half. (district rural) “supervisor” means a supervisor appointed under sec ‐ tion 26 to take control and charge over the administra ‐ tion of all or any of the affairs of a local government or local board under. (administrateur) “Tribunal” means the Assessment and Planning Ap ‐ peal Board continued as the Assessment and Planning Appeal Tribunal under

definitions apply in this Part. 2 Les définitions qui suivent s’appliquent à la présente partie. “Chair” means the Chair of the Commission who is also known as the Commissioner of Local Governance Affairs. a) to provide support and assistance to local gov ‐ ernments and regional service commissions;

b) to provide advice and recommendations to the Minister on any matter related to local governments, regional service commissions and rural districts;

a) a Chair who shall also be known as the Commis‐ sioner of Local Governance Affairs; and

a) use a merit-based and objective approach,

Remuneration and expenses Rémunération et dépenses 8 The Lieutenant-Governor in Council shall determine the remuneration to be paid to the Chair, Vice-Chair and other members of the Commission and may fix the rate for reimbursement of expenses incurred by them while acting on behalf of the Commission. 8 Le lieutenant-gouverneur en conseil fixe la rémuné ‐ ration du président, du vice-président et des autres mem‐ bres de la Commission et peut fixer le taux afférent au remboursement des dépenses engagées dans l’exercice de leurs attributions.

Quorum Quorum 9 Three members of the Commission, one of whom shall be the Chair or the Vice-Chair, constitute a quorum on the Commission. 9 Le quorum de la Commission est de trois membres, dont l’un est le président ou le vice-président.

Division B Powers, duties and functions of Commission and Commissioner

Section B Attributions de la Commission et du commissaire Powers, duties and functions of the Commission - general Attributions de la Commission – généralités 13(1) The Commission may exercise any power con ‐ ferred on the Commission and shall perform the duties and functions required to be performed by the Commis ‐ sion under this Act or its regulations or any other Act or regulation, including 13(1) La Commission a le pouvoir et le devoir d’exer ‐ cer les attributions que lui confèrent la présente loi, ses règlements, toute autre loi ou tout autre règlement, no ‐ tamment : (

a) the Local Governance Act, and
