OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister responsible for the Human Rights Act dated August 23, 2006, pursuant to

Section 26 of

Chapter 214 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Human Rights Act, and

Section 18 of

Chapter 235 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the

Interpretation Act, is pleased, effective August 31, 2006, to: (

a) revoke the appointment of Mayann E. Francis as Director of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission, made by Order in Council 2002-499, dated November 1, 2002; (

b) appoint Michael Noonan as Acting Director of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission; (

c) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against Michael Noonan and indemnify him from personal liability provided that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of his activities in relation to the appointment and is not based on fraud or criminal activities, and where the Province so defends him, the Province will be in control of the case.
