An Act Respecting The United Church of Canada Loi concernant l’Église Unie du Canada Attendu :

WHEREAS The United Church of Canada was incorpo- rated by The United Church of Canada Act ,

chapter 100 of the Statutes of Canada, 1924; que l’Église Unie du Canada a été constituée en per- sonne morale par la Loi de l’Eglise-unie du Canada ,

chapitre 100 des Statuts du Canada de 1924; AND

WHEREAS The United Church of Canada Act ,

chapter 59 of the Acts of New Brunswick, 1924, governs the property, rights and powers of The United Church of Canada in New Brunswick; que la loi intitulée The United Church of Canada Act ,

chapitre 59 des Lois du Nouveau-Brunswick de 1924, régit les biens, les droits et les pouvoirs de l’Église Unie du Canada au Nouveau-Brunswick; AND

WHEREAS The United Church of Canada’s 42nd General Council adopted a motion on August 14, 2015 to restructure the governance of The United Church of Canada and undertook a remit process, the re- sults of which were confirmed on July 22, 2018, by The United Church of Canada’s 43rd General Council; que le 42e Conseil général de l’Église Unie du Canada a adopté une motion le 14 août 2015 visant la restructura- tion de la gouvernance de l’Église Unie du Canada et a entrepris un processus de renvoi dont les résultats ont été confirmés le 22 juillet 2018 au 43e Conseil général de l’Église Unie du Canada; AND

WHEREAS The United Church of Canada Act ,

chapter 100 of the Statutes of Canada, 1924, was amended by

chapter 31 of the Statutes of Canada, 2019, to reflect the changes to the governance structure of The United Church of Canada; que la Loi de l’Eglise-unie du Canada ,

WHEREAS The United Church of Canada prays that it be enacted as hereinafter set forth; que l’Église Unie du Canada sollicite l’édiction des dis- positions qui suivent, THEREFORE, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Bruns- wick, enacts as follows: Sa Majesté, sur l’avis et avec le consentement de l’As- semblée législative du Nouveau-Brunswick, édicte : 1

Definition of “constituting Act” Définition de « loi constitutive » 1 In this Act, “constituting Act” means The United Church of Canada Act ,

chapter 59 of the Acts of New Brunswick, 1924. 1 Dans la présente loi, « loi constitutive » s’entend de la loi intitulée The United Church of Canada Act , chapi- tre 59 des Lois du Nouveau-Brunswick de 1924.

Interpretation Interprétation 2 In the constituting Act, including in

Schedule “A” of that Act, unless the context otherwise requires, 2 Dans la loi constitutive, y compris son

a) a reference to “Conference” or “Presbytery” shall be deemed to include
