Statute: Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Act

OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Heritage dated August 30, 2005, and pursuant to Sections 5, 6 and 9 of

Chapter 22 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Act, is pleased to: (

a) appoint the following persons as governors of the Board of Governors of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia: \x09 (

i) Alice McCarron of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, for a term commencing October 27, 2005, and ending June 30, 2008; \x09 (ii) Marion Jay of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, for a term commencing October 27, 2005, and ending June 30, 2008; \x09 (iii) Senator Donald H. Oliver, Q.C., of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, for a term commencing October 27, 2005, and ending June 30, 2008; \x09 (iv) John E. Oliver of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, for a term commencing October 27, 2005, and ending June 30, 2008; \x09 (

v) Linda Hutchison of Kentville, Kings County, for a term commencing October 27, 2005, and ending June 30, 2006; (

b) reappoint the following persons as governors of the Board of Governors of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia: \x09 (

i) Deanne MacLeod of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, for a term commencing October 27, 2005, and ending June 30, 2008; and \x09 (ii) Carolyn R. Moore of Wolfville, Kings County, for a term commencing October 27, 2005, and ending June 30, 2008; (

c) approve the appointment by the Board of Governors of Farhad Vladi of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, as an Honourary Governor of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia for life; (

d) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against the above appointees of the Board of Governors of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and indemnify them from personal liability in connection with any such claim, provided, however, that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of their activities in relation to their appointment, and is not based on fraud or criminal activity, and where the Province so defends them, the Province will be in control of the case.
