a) Clause (

c) of subsection (1) of

section 11 presently reads: 11. <1) In this section, "(c) "contract holder" means a Jlerson who has a subsisting ron tract with the board or a municipal hospital district or with o. local authority;". The amendment will make it clear that the term here defined refers to a contract in the form prescribed by the Minister. (

b) This amendment is for the purpose of placing share-crop tenants in the position of contract holders under the hospitalization plan. Part n will relate the amendments to the revision and consolida tion of the statutes.

An Act to amend The Hospitalization and Treatment Services Act (Assented to , 1956) HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Alberta, enacts as follows :

PART I 1. The Hospitalizat ,ion and T1·eatment Se1·vices Act, be ing

chapter 56 of the Statutes of Alberta, 1953, is hereby amended.

Section 11 is amended (

a) as to subsection (1) by striking out clause (

c) and by substituting the following: "(c) 'contract holder' means a person who has a subsisting contract, on a form approved by the Minister, with the board of a municipal hospital district or with a local authority;", (

b) by adding immediately after subsection (4) the following subsection: "

(5) A person who is required to deliver a share of the crop as rental on provincial or munici pal lands shall be deemed for the purposes of this

section to be a contract holder and is entitled to receive the same hospital benefits as other contract holders of the municipal hospital district or local authority.".

PART II 3. The Hospitalization and T1·eatment Se1·vices Act, being

chapter 146 of the Revised Statutes of Alberta, 1955, is hereby amended.

Section 12 is amended (

a) as to subsection (1) by striking out clause (

b) and by substituting the following: " (b) 'contract holder' means a person who has a subsisting contract, on a form approved by the Minister, with the board of a municipal hospital district or with a local authority;",

b) by adding immediately after subsection (4) the following subsection: "

(5) A person who is required to deliver a share of the crop as rental on provincial or municipal lands shall be deemed for the purposes of this sec tion to be a contract holder and is entitled to re ceive the same hospital benefits as other contract holders of the municipal hospital district or local authority.". 5.

Part I and this

section come into force on the day upon which this Act is assented to, and

Part II, except this section, comes into force and

Part I is repealed on the day the Revised Statutes of Alberta, 1955, come into force.
