TAYLOR First Reading Second Reading Committee of the Whole Third Reading Royal Assent Title: 1992 (22nd, 4th) Bill 311, Dairy Industry Amendment Act, 1992 Bill Mr. Taylor BILL DAIRY INDUSTRY AMENDMENT ACT, 1992 (Assented to , 1992) HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, enacts as follows: 1 This Act amends the Dairy Industry Act. 2

Section is amended in subsection (

i) by striking out "or infant formula" and substituting ", infant formula or any tofu-based product, provided that it is labelled in accordance with

section 52"; 3

Section is amended by adding the following after subsection 2:

(3) Products which are based on tofu shall be clearly labelled as such and the label shall: (

a) state in bold letters that the product is tofu-based; (

b) list all the ingredients in the product; (

c) not use the word "cheese", "cheese substitute" or any words which would imply that the product contains cheese, unless it does in fact contain cheese.

(4) Tofu shall not be used in the manufacture of any food product unless: 1 (

a) the food is clearly labelled as containing tofu; and (

b) all other constituent ingredients are listed on the label on the food. 4 This Act comes into force on Proclamation. 2 Title: 1992 (22nd, 4th) Bill 311, Dairy Industry Amendment Act, 1992
