OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister responsible for the administration of the Human Rights Act dated September 17, 2002, and pursuant to

Section 22 of

Chapter 214 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Human Rights Act, is pleased to: (

a) reappoint James E. Dewar, Q.C., of Wolfville, Kings County, as a commissioner and designate him as Chair of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission commencing November 1, 2002, and ending October 31, 2004; (

b) determine that James E. Dewar, Q.C., be paid remuneration at the rate of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) for each half day spent at duly called meetings of the Commission together with an additional $600.00 per month as Chair of the Commission for his term of office; and (

c) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against James E. Dewar, Q.C., and indemnify him from personal liability, provided that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of his activities in relation to his appointment and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends him, the Province will be control of the case.
