Statute: Public Service Act Executive Council Act House of Assembly Act

OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the President of the Executive Council dated October 20, 2025, and pursuant to Sections 4, 7, 44F and 84 of

Chapter 376 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Public Service Act , and

Section 7 of

Chapter 155 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Executive Council Act , is pleased, effective October 21, 2025, to: (

a) assign all affairs and matters relating to housing, and the administration of the Acts, orders and regulations relating to housing, which have heretofore been assigned by or under any Act of the Legislature to the Minister of Growth and Development, to the Honourable John White, a member of the Executive Council, who may be described as the Minister of Housing; (

b) appoint the Deputy Minister of Growth and Development to also serve as Deputy Minister of Housing; (

c) appoint the Associate Deputy Minister of Growth and Development to also serve as Associate Deputy Minister of Housing; (

d) direct that for administrative purposes the administration of all affairs and matters related to housing remain attached to the Department of Growth and Development; and (

e) determine that, in addition to the annual indemnity payable under subsection 39(1) of the House of Assembly Act , and the annual salary referred to in subsection 7(1) of the Executive Council Act and payable under clause 45A(1)(

h) of the House of Assembly Act , the member of the Executive Council described as the Minister of Housing shall be paid a supplemental allowance equal to the difference between the salary specified for members of the Executive Council with and without charge of a department or office in accordance with clauses 45A(1)(

g) and 45A(1)(

h) of the House of Assembly Act .
