Energy and Minerals

Hosting Expenses Exceeding $600.00

For the period ending December 31, 2023

Function: Government of Alberta hosted roundtable session on European energy

security

Purpose: Coordinated by Atlantik-Brucke and hosted by the Government of Alberta,

this breakfast session brings together key European elected officials, industry leaders,

and thought leaders to discuss energy security issues and Alberta's potential role in

addressing these concerns. Alberta Energy & Minerals paid for room rental with

service, food, and beverages for approximately 20 participants.

Location: Berlin, Germany

Function: 2023 Canadian Hydrogen Convention related bilateral meetings with

international delegates

Purpose: As the lead Government of Alberta ministry for the 2023 Canadian

Hydrogen Convention, Alberta Energy and Minerals' Minister conducted bilateral

meetings throughout the day with domestic and international delegates at the

Edmonton Convention Centre. Costs include boardroom rental for one day including

light refreshments for approximately 40 guests.

Function: Alberta Energy and Minerals Stampede Open House

Purpose: The open house held at the McDougall Centre provides an opportunity for

the Minister and the Department's senior officials to connect with international and

domestic energy stakeholders. Alberta Energy and Minerals provided food and

beverage in the form of light refreshments for approximately 200 guests.

Function: Pathways Trilateral Negotiations

Purpose: This is a meeting of the Pathways Trilateral Negotiation Main Table to

continue the work from the September 11th Main Table session in Ottawa

collaborating on how to incentivize Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage, and other

emissions-reducing infrastructure for the oil, gas, and electricity sectors in Alberta.

The total cost included the provision of food and non-alcoholic beverages for

approximately 17 participants.

Function: Alberta-Canada Bilateral Working Group Meeting

Purpose: This meeting of the Alberta-Canada Bilateral Working Group is a

Infrastructure

Contract Increases Approved Pursuant to Treasury Board Directive 02/2005

Contract: Calgary - Calgary Remand Centre - Replace HVAC System

Contractor: PCL Construction Management Inc.

Reason for Increase: The increase is to allow for unforeseen site conditions that are

similar to conditions already encountered in work already completed.

Contract Amount: $2,708,400.00

% Increase: 21%

Amount of Increase: $575,000.00

Contract: Calgary - Young Offenders Centre - Correctional Facility Renewal

Contractor: PCL Construction Management Inc.

Reason for Increase: This change is necessitated due to client mandated security

requirements which require the supply and installation of additional video

arraignment components and additional electrical work. This work is within the intent

of the project and contract.

Contract Amount: $5,588,000.00

% Increase: 38%

Amount of Increase: $2,101,003.86

Contract: Edmonton - Manning Crossing - Children's Services Intervention Office

Relocation

Contractor: HSMG Services & Consulting Inc.

Reason for Increase: Project is in leased space and has incurred additional project

costs due to unexpected site conditions. Further costs are expected due to security

system, door hardware and lighting control changes. These are required to meet the

client's needs and changing the water heater to gas-fired to ensure existing power

supply is not overloaded.

Contract Amount: $1,807,000.00

% Increase: 21%

Amount of Increase: $370,715.59

Contract: Fort McMurray Courthouse - AHU & Boiler Replacement

Contractor: Goldbar Contractors Inc.

Reason for Increase: While replacing the Air Handling Unit (AHU), spray foam

insulation was discovered in the ductwork. This is a building code violation, as well

as a life safety issue. The spray foam will be removed and replaced with proper duct

lining.

Contract Amount: $1,498,000.00

% Increase: 18%

Amount of Increase: $262,396.81

Contract: St. Paul - Courthouse - Exterior Envelope Renewal

Contractor: Nova Mechanical Systems Ltd.

Reason for Increase: The contract included unit rates. The final quantity for one of

the unit rate items was greater than expected. There was also a change of glazing tint

requested by Facilities that resulted in an upcharge.

Contract Amount: $396,760.00

% Increase: 37%
