OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the Report and Recommendation of the Minister of Justice dated May 30, 2022, and pursuant to

Section 26C(1) of

Chapter 31 of the Acts of 2004, the Police Act , and

Section 45.79 of

Part VII.1 of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Act , R.S.C., 1985, c. R-10, is pleased, effective June 6, 2022, to: (

a) revoke Order in Council 2018-51 dated March 6, 2018; (

b) appoint John Scott as the interim Nova Scotia Civilian Director of the Serious Incident Response Team for a term of not more than one year; (

c) designate John Scott as the designated authority for the purposes of Parts VII.1 and VII.2 of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Act for a term of not more than one year; (

d) fix the salary of John Scott at $6,065.37 bi-weekly plus travel expenses, payable in accordance with the travel policies and guidelines of the Province of Nova Scotia; (

e) direct that John Scott receive 4% pay in lieu of vacation and such other benefit entitlements as one would receive if John Scott were an employee for the purposes of the Nova Scotia Labour Standards Code ; (

f) direct that John Scott be indemnified and to extend to John Scott the same protection against liability from suits or claims brought against John Scott in respect of work performed on behalf of the Province as would be provided to a civil servant; and (

g) direct that John Scott is not, by this appointment or otherwise, a civil servant entitled to civil service benefits.
