OIC Text: The Governor in Council, on the report and recommendation of the Minister responsible for the Securities Act dated July 13, 2023, and pursuant to Sections 4 and 7 of
Chapter 418 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Securities Act , and
Section 18 of
Chapter 235 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the
Interpretation Act , is pleased to: (
a) designate Valerie Seager of Halifax Regional Municipality (Halifax) as Vice-chair of the Nova Scotia Securities Commission, for the remainder of her term as a member made pursuant to Order in Council 2022-106 dated April 26, 2022, commencing August 15, 2023; (
b) revoke the appointment of J. Walter Thompson, K.C. of Halifax Regional Municipality (Halifax) as a member of the Nova Scotia Securities Commission made pursuant to Order in Council 2021-126 dated May 11, 2021, effective August 15, 2023; (
c) reappoint Heidi Walsh-Sampson of Mahone Bay, Lunenburg County, as a member of the Nova Scotia Securities Commission for a term of three (3) years commencing August 15, 2023; (
d) appoint Tom Atkinson of St. Peter’s, Richmond County, as a member of the Nova Scotia Securities Commission for a term of three (3) years commencing August 15, 2023; (
e) appoint John Maxwell of Halifax Regional Municipality (Boutiliers Point) as a member the Nova Scotia Securities Commission for a term of three (3) years commencing August 15, 2023; (
f) determine the remuneration for Valerie Seager as Vice-chair and member to be $39,000 per year, plus expenses; and (
g) determine the remuneration for Heidi Walsh-Sampson, Tom Atkinson, and John Maxwell to be $200 per one-half day, plus expenses.
