2004 POLITICAL CONTRIBUTIONS TAX CREDIT BILL No. 27 of

An Act to amend The Political Contributions Tax Credit Act (Assented to , 2004) HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, enacts as follows:

Short title This Act may be cited as The Political Contributions Tax Credit Amendment Act, 2004. S.S. 2001, c.P-15.2 amended The Political Contributions Tax Credit Act is amended in the manner set forth in this Act.

Section amended Subsection 4(1) is amended by adding “ or 5.1” after “section 5”.

Section amended Subsection 5(1) is repealed and the following substituted: “

(1) In this section, ‘total’ means the total of the eligible contributions made before January 1, 2004 by a taxpayer in a taxation year for which the taxpayer has a valid tax receipt”. New

section 5.1 The following

section is added after

section 5: “Calculation of tax credit for and subsequent taxation years 5.1(1) In this section, ‘total’ means the total of the eligible contributions made on or after January 1, 2004 by a taxpayer in a taxation year for which the taxpayer has a valid tax receipt.

(2) If the total is $400 or less, the amount of the tax credit that a taxpayer is entitled to claim for a taxation year is 75% of the total.

(3) If the total is greater than $400 but not greater than $750, the amount of the tax credit that a taxpayer is entitled to claim for a taxation year is $300 plus 50% of the amount by which the total exceeds $400.

(4) If the total is greater than $750, the amount of the tax credit that a taxpayer is entitled to claim for a taxation year is the lesser of: (a) $475 plus 33 % of the amount by which the total exceeds $750; and (b) $650 ”.
