OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Labour and Advanced Education, dated January 28, 2021, and pursuant to Sections 3, 5 and 6 of
Chapter 37 of the Acts of 2010, the Labour Board Act , is pleased to: (
a) appoint Paul Cormier of Halifax Regional Municipality (Bedford), Ginette Jalbert of Parrsboro, Cumberland County, and Brad Long of Antigonish, Antigonish County, as employee members of the Labour Board, each for a term of three (3) years commencing February 2, 2021; (
b) appoint Carl Gannon of Halifax Regional Municipality (Halifax) as an employer member of the Labour Board for a term of three (3) years commencing February 2, 2021; (
c) reappoint Joseph “Kenneth” Chisholm of Halifax Regional Municipality (Hammonds Plains) and James McNamara of Havre Boucher, Antigonish County, as employer members of the Labour Board, both for terms of three (3) years commencing February 2, 2021; (
d) fix the remuneration of Paul Cormier, Ginette Jalbert, Brad Long, Carl Gannon, Joseph “Kenneth” Chisholm, and James McNamara in the following aggregate amounts, payable to each for their service as an employee or employer member of the Labour Board: (i) $200.00 per day for each day the member conducts a hearing as a member or participates in necessary training; (ii) $150.00 per day for each day the member necessarily attends to the business of the Labour Board, as a member, except while conducting a hearing or participating in necessary training; and (iii) such actual and reasonable expenses as may be incurred by the member in the discharge of their duties, provided such reimbursements do not exceed those normally paid to members of the civil service. (
e) reappoint Susan Ashley of Wolfville, Kings County, as a vice-chair of the Labour Board for a term of three (3) years commencing February 2, 2021; (
f) order that the remuneration for Susan Ashley be fixed in the following aggregate amounts for her services as a vice-chair of the Labour Board: (
i) an annual $15,000 honorarium to be paid pro rata; (ii) $300.00 per day for each day the vice-chair conducts a hearing as a vice-chair or participates in necessary training; (iii) $150.00 per day for each day the vice-chair necessarily attends to the business of the Labour Board as a vice-chair except while conducting a hearing participating in necessary training; and (iv) reimbursement for reasonable expenses actually incurred in fulfilling their duties as vice-chair, provided such reimbursements do not exceed those normally paid to members of the civil service. (
g) reappoint Augustus Richardson, Q.C. of Halifax Regional Municipality (Halifax) as a vice-chair of the Labour Board for a term of three (3) years commencing February 2, 2021; (
h) order that the remuneration for Augustus Richardson, Q.C. be fixed in the following aggregate amounts, payable for his services as a vice-chair of the Labour Board: (
i) an annual $10,000 honorarium to be paid pro rata; (ii) $300.00 per day for each day the vice-chair conducts a hearing as a vice-chair or participates in necessary training; (iii) $150.00 per day for each day the vice-chair necessarily attends to the business of the Labour Board as a vice-chair except while conducting a hearing or participating in necessary training; and (iv) reimbursement for reasonable expenses actually incurred in fulfilling their duties as vice-chair, provided such reimbursements do not exceed those normally paid to members of the civil service.
